Tyler Smokes.

Looking through this roll of Tyler feels a bit like a warm up roll to me. We got all of the goofiness out of the way first and put down a few serious pictures once we got to black and white. That being said, these turned out nicely because of the touch of awkwardness.

thanks Ren!

REN BOSTELAAR gave me a kind shout out on his blog today. Check out his work and the work of the other suggested artists.

Ren.

I shot two rolls of Ren. Ren has helped me endlessly with lighting, camera choice and photography in general. He is the reason I have the camera I do and is always up for my ideas. Here are my favorites from our black and white roll.

Aaron post call.

Aaron came over for breakfast the other day and had a little nap on my couch. He was post call and up all night doing the worst job in the hospital, delivering babies. These are all using the day light from my door with one 250 watt day bulb placed in the same direction as the natural. In using this light, I generally have a 14/14 success rate, which is hilarious because I really guess about almost everything on medium format. "It'll be fine" should be my motto. Here are my favorite shots.

Sleeper and Hair.

I've recently started taking photos of gentlemen sleeping (or almost sleeping) for my own personal project. What I will do with these photos? Who knows. I've always been fascinated by the stretch and length of someone when they are left to take over an entire bed. Generally, morning shots and sleeping pictures are of ethereal looking women looking peaceful and vulnerable. I want to try to capture men in this way.
Here are a few shots of the wonderful photographer Eric. Some sleeping, some not.
